The UK Government is providing £1 million for projects aimed at reducing emissions from road transport.
It is part of the Air Quality Grant Programme - open to local authorities across England - which will support projects set up to tackle nitrogen dioxide levels and mitigate emissions from cars and buses.
Transport is a major source of greenhouse gases, with around a quarter of domestic carbon dioxide and other emissions in the UK coming from road vehicles.
Environment Minister Dan Rogerson said: “Air quality has improved significantly in recent decades and local authorities play a vital role - this funding will allow them to continue their good work.”
