Schneider Electric energises communities in Brazil

An initiative aimed at helping young adults join the energy sector in Brazil is being supported by Schneider Electric.

The energy giant helps implement courses in electrical engineering through Casa do Zezinho, a non-profit organisation based in Sao Paulo, which supports children and adolescents from low income families.

Tania Cosentino, Zone President South America at Schneider Electric said at least 15,000 young girls and boys have been given technical training since 2009.

She added: “They have certification, they can look for a job and they can help those low-income households or favelas or underprivileged people build a safe installation.

“At the same time we are providing education, we’re putting people inside the economic environment, improving the quality of electricity in those underprivileged areas… So when they get a job, they are proud to have a job inside their community.”
