Solar farms throw open doors for “independence day”

Solar farms throw open doors for “independence day”

Eighteen solar energy farms around the country are throwing open their gates on 4 July to celebrate “Solar Independence Day”.

Taking place on the date which marks the United States going solo, solar firms say it’s about independence from fossil fuels, high energy bills and more independence for farmers.

Local residents, schools and community groups are being invited along to learn how a solar farm really works.

Dorset, Devon, Cambridge and the Isle of Wight are among the solar locations, some are in rolling countryside while one is next to a cement works.

For a full list of the farms you can visit in the Solar Trade Association’s open day or to book a visit go here.
