Mystery brewer orders “steam traps” to cut carbon

An unnamed beer maker has put in an order for an energy efficient retrofit on its equipment to cut its carbon footprint.

Canadian clean technology firm Thermal Energy announced today it got an order worth $160,000 (£98k) from one of the world’s largest beer companies.

The mystery international brewer is getting “steam traps” for its sites, these are basically valves which use steam more efficiently.

The installer claimed these could cut the company’s yearly operating costs by around $100,000 (£61k) and lower greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 327 tonnes a year.
