Wind power on menu at Harrogate restaurant

A Yorkshire eatery has put wind power on the menu after installing a 72kW wind turbine.

The Millstones restaurant in Harrogate expects to generate around 180,000kWh a year which it hopes will save it plenty of electricity as it currently uses 130,000 kWh.

It is the 750th generator the independent energy supplier Opus Energy has arranged to put in place.

Steve James, a Director at Opus Energy said: “The Millstones generator is a great way of demonstrating that any business can sign up to renewable energy.”

He said many businesses aren’t aware that businesses can cut down rising industry charges by generating renewable power and so putting a lower demand on the grid.
