Businesses will only save energy if they understand how they use it, according to experts at Trident Utilities.
The utility broker which is one of the supporting sponsors of the Energy Live 2013 conference next week said it is helping businesses "use less and build more" and believes the two are “inextricably linked”.
Director of Energy Trading Darren Robertson said: “Energy efficiency is a process driven by understanding. Using less is about understanding how your business really consumes energy – because only when you map your energy consumption can you target the areas of greatest impact.
"But efficiency is also about building more understanding of the way energy markets work – and of the importance of timing on your procurement strategy – because that’s how you buy in a way that works to your advantage.”
He added: “We don’t build infrastructure, we don’t set policy – but we do build understanding. It’s that understanding that drives efficiency, both in terms of the energy businesses use – and the amount they pay for it.”
The theme of Energy Live 2013 is ‘Using Less Building More’ and the event takes place on November 7th at the London Film Museum.
