Energy chiefs of the future to meet in Korea

Energy chiefs of the future to meet in Korea

The energy industry constantly bemoans the lack of young talent around - so it might be a surprise to hear the next generation of energy sector leaders are about to gather in Korea.

Part of the Future Energy Leaders Programme (FELP), 100 delegates from 44 countries have been selected to take part, including 20 from developing nations.

Michael Gibbons, Chair of the UK Member Committee of the World Energy Council (UKWEC) said: "The past 100 years have seen huge step changes in technology, yet there are still not enough young people studying in the science, maths and engineering disciplines to deploy those advances.

"I am delighted that the UK will be represented in this programme to discuss and debate strategic issues surrounding sustainability, resources and technologies," he added.

The UK will be represented by Gareth Parkes, Knowledge Manager at the Energy Institute who graduated in Chemical Engineering from University of Nottingham in 2007.
