A shipping firm based in Aberdeen has officially launched its latest platform supply vessel (PSV) in Northern Spain.
Craig Group invested £50 million in the Grampian Sceptre (pictured) and its sister vessel the Grampian Sovereign, which will start work this week in the North Sea.
The vessels are said to be the “largest ever” built by the company and both have secured long term contracts with Talisman Sinopec Eneergy UK Limited.
The vessels at the Balenciaga Shipyard are 83 metres long and have systems which the company claims offer a “greater fuel economy and efficiency”.
Callum Bruce, Managing Director at North Star, a division of the Craig Group said: “We are constantly looking at ways of expanding and modernising our fleet. These vessels feature the most up to date technology and designs, meeting our customers’ needs in terms of safety, quality and efficiency.”
Craig Group's fleet currently stands at 36 vessels and includes a mix of Platform Supply, Tanker Assist as well as Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels.
Last month North Star won a contract to support BP's operations in the North Sea.
