London City Airport buys on-site fuel facility from BP

A London airport has bought a fuel facility from oil giant BP for an undisclosed sum.

Located at the airport itself, it will be the second facility to supply fuel to London City Airport’s (LCY) 10 airline customers.

So far, the airlines have purchased fuel from BP and Shell, which operates the other fuel facility. The airport will now be running the fuelling station with an “open” policy, allowing all fuel suppliers to send in their quotations for business. Kuwait Petroleum International (Q8) will supply the fuel and LCY is in talks will a further four suppliers, although it said there is no limit on the number of companies.

Simon Potts, Director of Business Improvement at London City Airport said: “This is another key service that we have arranged and are providing to our customers, demonstrating our commitment to them and to their businesses. The new fuel farm arrangement stimulates fuel supply competition which should help our customers achieve fuel prices which are advantageous to them.”

Aircraft Service International Group (ASIG) will run the LCY fuel farm on behalf of the airport. LCY is the only London airport situated in the city itself.
