Interserve bags multi-million contracts with ScottishPower

A support services and construction firm has won two multi-million pound contracts to upgrade existing overhead lines for ScottishPower.

Located in Connahs Quay and Bangor, Interserve will refurbish around 40km of overhead line route for the two 132,000 volt power lines. It will upgrade steelwork and foundations on existing towers, change conductors, insulators and fittings to extend the life expectancy of the lines.

Ian Maddison, Interserve’s Divisional Director - Power said: “We are delighted to win two major projects with ScottishPower. In addition to delivering the projects safely and efficiently, a major consideration in the construction will be managing the environmental impact of the works. We will have stringent construction management plans and temporary works in place to mitigate any risks.”

Earlier this year, ELN reported the firm’s £146 million contract to build a recycling and renewable energy centre for Glasgow City Council.
