Regions are winners when it comes to energy jobs

Regional parts of the UK have been the big winners in energy with more jobs created there than in the capital city.

The new figures reveal nearly half as many more jobs (45.7%) have been created in the North West since 2008, while a quarter (25%) more were employed in both the South East and Yorkshire & Humber. Scotland saw a jobs rise of 13% and Wales 11.9%.

In contrast Londoners lost out in the energy sector, with the jobs on offer actually dropping 2.3% since 2008.

The ‘Powering the UK’ report from global analysts Ernst & Young and trade body Energy UK suggests energy is playing a bigger role in boosting regional development.
