Satellites improve solar panels’ energy

A Slovakian-based firm claims it has made technology which detects underperforming solar panels – using satellites.

GeoModel Solar claims its solar tool uses solar modelling to improve solar panels’ energy production in Europe and South Africa.

The firm says its system beats typical practices which use data from cheap sensors or nearby meteorological stations because it can judge the “accuracy of solar radiation”.

Marcel Suri, managing director of GeoModel Solar said: “The solar industry needs independent data and approaches for transparent evaluation of existing PV capacities.”
