Fire at Mexico gas plant kills 26

Around 26 people were killed and several others injured when a fire broke out at a gas plant in Mexico yesterday.

Owned by state-run energy firm Pemex, the fire occurred around lunchtime at its gas facility outside the city of Reynosa, located directly across the border from Texas, US.

The company said four of those killed were its employees and the rest were employed by contractors. The fire at the gas plant has been extinguished but the cause of it is still being investigated.

Reports claim a similar accident occurred last week at a nearby plant owned by Pemex.
