The essentials of energy management

The essentials of energy management

The Energy Services and Technology Association (ESTA) has launched the first of a series of short training courses for energy and facilities managers covering the essential elements in optimising different energy efficiency technologies and strategies.

ESTA represents more than 100 providers of energy efficiency systems and services. So these courses are drawn from over 30 years expertise in developing and implementing these technologies. The courses are delivered by professionals with practical experience of achieving energy savings and form part of ESTA’s On•Course training suite.

With so many options for saving energy through the application of new and improved technologies, it can be difficult to choose and implement the right strategy for an individual organisation. But ESTA, the UK association for the energy efficiency industry, can help you through the maze.
ESTA members, in addition to creating the systems for end-users to manage their energy consumption, have also been closely involved with the development of international standards for energy management like ISO 50001.

The first of these regular, half-day courses will take place in October. Subjects include:

•    Lighting controls
•    ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems
•    Verification of Energy Savings

Each course lasts for half a day and counts against CPD requirements for most professional organisations.

Forthcoming courses will include the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and one on Managing Carbon Markets.

Commenting on the new courses, Alan Aldridge, Executive Director of ESTA, said: “Managing scarce and increasingly expensive resources like energy is a vital part of effective business management. As the organisation representing the country’s energy efficiency industry, we have developed theses courses to make that expertise available in an easy-to-access format to energy users.”
