Eight out of ten demand more renewable energy

Eight out of ten demand more renewable energy

More than eight out of ten people (85%) around the globe want more renewable energy.

Vestas revealed the figures in a new report which looked at consumers’ preferences for renewable energy in 20 countries.

The Danish wind turbine manufacturer also found nearly half of consumers were willing to pay for more products made with renewable energy and around 62% would buy products from brands using wind energy.

Morten Albaek, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communication and Corporate Relations at Vestas said: “The evidence presented by the surveys is extremely encouraging, clearly showing that consumers are demanding more renewable energy in the grid and are showing a willingness to pay a premium price for products made with renewable energy.”

The firm has started a 2012 Energy Transparency campaign in an effort to increase transparency of consumers’ energy preferences globally.
