Ernst & Young welcomes CBI’s green report

Ernst & Young has welcomed the CBI's report about maximising the potential of green businesses in the country.

The global services provider said it was good to see the CBI put forward the figure of £20 billion on the potential economic contribution of green businesses in the UK.

James Close, Lead Partner Sustainability and Cleantech Services at Ernst & Young suggested businesses should start investing in green projects.

He said: “Now is the perfect time for companies to start investing in long term projects such as energy efficiency. This could include building retrofits, energy control systems or renewable power generation. The financial case is becoming increasingly appealing as renewable power becomes cheaper and energy prices are rising. As well as profiting from the investment in these programs businesses can benefit from an enhanced reputation, carbon reductions, energy price stability and security of energy supply.”

The CBI also called on the Government to adopt a more consistent approach for energy and climate change policy.
