Scottish energy firm SSE bought up Irish gas supplier Phoenix Supply for £19.1million this week after getting approval from the Irish Competition Authority.
It is the firm’s second Irish buy within a month, following its Endesa Ireland purchase in early June. This makes SSE the third largest energy company in Ireland.
Alistair Phillips-Davies, Generation and Supply Director of SSE said: "This marks a significant point for SSE as we become the first domestic dual fuel provider operating in both the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland markets."
