CBI welcomes fuel price freeze

The CBI has welcomed the Government's decision to freeze the fuel price rise until January next year.

The proposed 3p per litre rise, which was due to start in August, was scrapped by Chancellor George Osborne yesterday after pressure from Labour.

The CBI said this decision will help families and businesses across the country.

Dr Neil Bentley, CBI Deputy Director-General said: “A fuel duty freeze will help to support road hauliers and freight transport operators, making delivering our goods that bit more affordable and supporting the economy during the challenging months ahead."

Fuel duty will start on January 1 when it will increase by 3p .
