Jobs in the solar industry have risen to 25,000, according to the Renewable Energy Association. It says that employment in the sector has rocketed by 22,000 since 2010, when the government's FiTs subsidy for renewable energy began.
This figure could be even greater, according to REA, which looked at the membership of its REAL Assurance Scheme, a consumer protection scheme.
The data shows that 4,000 solar companies registered with REAL in the UK. At the current rate of registrations there could be 7,000 further jobs by April 2012, suggested REA.
