Energy firms form new European energy storage group

Thirteen firms from the energy industry have formed a group to promote the role of energy storage in the Europe market this week. The Brussels-based European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) counts French energy supplier EDF, British engineers at Siemens and green energy producer DONG Energy among its founding members.

Italy's largest power company Enel was another EASE founder, as well as EnBW, E.ON, GDF Suez, Hitachi Power Europe, RISØ DTU, RWE, and energy consultancy KEMA.

EASE was created in response to the European Commission's 2009 Energy Storage Task Force, said KEMA.
