Carbon Trust appoint ex-Shell man

Carbon Trust appoint ex-Shell man

The Carbon Trust has appointed ex-Shell Chairman James Smith as their new Chairman. He becomes the latest in a recent string of oil industry bosses to move into the low-carbon sector.

James Smith said: "The talented people in the Carbon Trust make a vital contribution to the development of a low carbon economy. They see the power of the market, coupled with smart policy, as the best route to cost effective, low carbon technologies."

James Smith replaces Sir Ian McAllister who steps down after 10 years as Chairman having been appointed in 2001.
