Technology group ABB, has won orders worth $144 million, from the Saudi Electricity Company. Saudi Arabia's national power transmission and distribution operator will construct new substations and upgrade existing ones to help the growing demand for electricity in the region.
Peter Leupp, head of ABB's Power Systems division said the developments would benefit Saudi life: "These substations will further strengthen the country's transmission and distribution grid to address growing electricity demand and serve the needs of key infrastructure establishments like medical centers and educational institutions."
The orders include civil works and auxiliary systems as well as the supply of key products such as gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), transformers, protection equipment and substation automation.
