A third of industrial and public sector businesses are planning to pump over £5,000 into energy efficiency measures this year, according to research from British Gas. The findings suggest that other sectors aren't putting their money into efficiency as readily.
Around a fifth of retail and business services firms like corporate lawyers and accountants don't plan to spend anything on efficiency in 2011.
Northern companies lead the charge for efficiency, as the survey suggests businesses in the North of England plan to invest an average of £4,750, more than five times as much as those in London and the South East.
Monitoring energy usage and putting in efficiency devices came out as the most popular measures that businesses plan to undertake in the next three years.
