ELN will be reporting from New Nuclear Build over the next two days. The conference held by the Nuclear Industry Association is the first opportunity for big names in the sector to discuss the future of the power in the UK post the Fukushima disaster.
The event which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth conference centre in London will be hearing from EDF boss Vincent de Rivaz and the head of Horizon Nuclear Alan Rayment among others. It'll also get the latest from Dr Mike Weightman who was commissioned by the government to report on nuclear safety implications for the UK in light of the Japanese quake.
The conference will also hear about progress of the Generic Design Assessment or GDA which was due to report at the end of this month but has now been postponed till later in the year. The GDA is the planning and safety process all planned new nuclear stations have to go through to get a licence to operate.
