BHP and Total tap first gas in Trinidad

Production has begun at the Greater Angostura gas field, operator BHP and partners Total and Chaoyang announced today.

Found 40 kilometres off the northeastern coast of Trinidad, 280 million cubic feet of gas will be welled per day.

J. Michael Yeager, BHP Billiton Petroleum Chief Executive said that the Angostura Gas Project will triple production at the Trinidad and Tobago business over the next year.

The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited will take delivery of the gas.
