Alstom grows Indian operations

Alstom has expanded its operations in India by opening a new hydro bearing factory.

Located in Vadodara, in India's western state of Gujarat, the factory will manufacture bearings for medium to large size hydro power projects.

Philippe Joubert, Alstom Power President said: "This is another major milestone in the history of Alstom in India. While India continues to develop as one of the most dynamic economies of the world, Alstom is committed to providing the best technologies and equipment to its partners and customers."

Alstom says it is the company's the most advanced hydro bearing factory, with energy-efficient features like heat-insulated panels, a fume extraction system and a rainwater recycling system.

It is set to reach full production capacity by 2012 to 2013.
