AV result won’t make Huhne resign

Chris Huhne, Energy Secretary and member of the coalition cabinet, will not stand down from Government should the AV vote fail this week, despite last week refusing to rule out the possibly.

Last week Mr Huhne had been critical of the Conservative party's 'trashing' of his Lib Dem party over the Alternative Vote referendum, taking place this Thursday.

A Liberal Democrat party spokesperson told ELN: "It was always going to be a very robust debate, but there was never any chance of Chris Huhne resigning."

At the weekend, Chris Huhne, alongside the Green Party's Caroline Lucas and Labour's John Denham, wrote to the Observer and argued that the majority of the British Public were in favour of Centre-Left politics.
