Global cable manufacturer Nexans has won a €33million contract to enhance Italy's power transmission network.

Italy's grid operator Terna commissioned Nexans to produce approximately 250 km of underground cables.

The high voltage aluminium cables will be installed from April 2011 across three separate locations, in the Lazio, Basilicata and Campania regions.

The high voltage power cables and related accessories will be manufactured in the Nexans plant based in Hanover in Germany, with additional services provided by Nexans units located in Italy.
