Yorkshire lined up for wind farms

REpower will install seven turbines to two separate wind farms owned by Banks Renewables. The relatively new company, having only started business in 2005, will start construction of the 14MW- producing farms this month.

Rick Eggleston, Managing Director of REpower UK said: "Both these sites are in Yorkshire but the wind conditions are quite different, which is why we are supplying two different products from the same range."

Hazlehead wind farm, 11 miles from Barnsley, will consist of three REpower MM82 turbines, whilst the slightly larger Marr development, near Doncaster, will consist of four MM92 turbines. The total capacity for both wind farms will be able to provide enough electricity annually to power over 9,000 homes

The Banks Group develops land for a variety of uses including residential and commercial property, surface mining and energy from waste, as well as renewable energy.

REpower had a 30% share of the total wind power market as of 2010.
