Alstom invests $75m in BrightSource Energy

Alstom invests $75m in BrightSource Energy

Power generation group Alstom is investing $75million (£46m) in solar thermal power plants from BrightSource Energy.

The companies are partnering in countries such as the Mediterranean ring and Africa.

This follows Alstom's original invested of $55million in the international solar company.

Philippe Joubert, Alstom Power President, said: "With this new investment, we continue to build our partnership with BrightSource Energy to provide highly efficient solar thermal power plants that will bring customers cost-efficient and reliable carbon-free power."

Alstom are now BrightSource Energy's second largest shareholder.
