Archaeology fears over wind farm

Archaeologists have raised concerns over a proposed wind farm in the Highlands of Scotland.

Council planners will decide tonight whether to approve the nine-turbine facility in Caithness.

While there are no known archaeological remains on the site itself, there are five Neolithic and Iron Age monuments nearby, and archaeologists want these protected if construction goes ahead.

They also want the wind farm, which would be built by Npower Renewables, to have as limited visual impact on the landscape as possible.

Council officers have recommended that the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross planning committee approves the scheme this evening.
