Carbon Plan gives industry clarity

The Coalition yesterday announced an energy blueprint, which was an important step forward according to a leading property consultant.

Jon Lovell, head of sustainability at Drivers Jonas Deloitte, said: "In many cases the Carbon Plan continues to leave the finer points open for further contemplation and debate.

"So, whilst key policy instruments remain unresolved, the industry does now have greater clarity on the timetable for working out some of the important detail, which is a positive step forward."

The action to roll-out Display Energy Certificates to commercial premises was a significant move, which those in the industry see as the result of objective campaigning on Government thinking.

Mr Lovell added: "The Carbon Plan signals a move against fragmentation and provides a very useful tool by which industry can track the evolution of the policy landscape and, crucially, hold Government to account on delivery. It is undoubtedly a very important step forward."
