Make the UK’s energy decisions (virtually)

Make the UK’s energy decisions (virtually)

The Department of Energy and Climate Change have today launched a web application that allows you to develop the UK's energy future as you see fit.

With the ultimate goal of reducing emissions to 20% of 1990 levels, the My2050 game will help us realise the tough moves having to be made to balance security of supply and going green.

Chris Huhne, Energy and Climate Change Secretary, said: "There's no silver bullet solution to the UK's energy future. This project is all about getting to grips with the hard choices and trade-offs which need to be made, choices which will affect our homes, communities and the way we travel. We can't afford to leave it till tomorrow - so get involved today."

So whether you want more nuclear power stations or less onshore wind, the choice is yours- as long as you can keep the lights on.

The launch of the website is accompanied by the update of the 2050 Calculator which gives a more detailed look at the Uk's energy and emissions system based on the limits of technology across supply and demand.
