Smart meter firm wins £12m British Gas contract

A UK firm has won a £12m contract to deliver smart metering services to British Gas Business.

G4S Utility Services clinched the three-year deal to cover the north of England and Scotland.

The contract comprises comprehensive electricity and gas metering services and will start on a staged basis starting in April. G4S has already secured a similar contract for the south of England.

G4S managing director Kim Challis said: "This contract will cement our place as a national provider of Smart installation and meter operation services at a key time for the industry."

British Gas Business managing director Kanat Emiroglu added: "The award of this contract to G4S Utility Services bears testament to the strategic relationship we have with them and demonstrates our confidence in G4S to deliver excellent service to our customers."
