Climate Change Minister Greg Barker today visited Salford, to open an office extension for eco-company ENER-G. The £2m extension is testimony to the firm's expansion which co-incides with the creation of a hundred new jobs. The growth of ENER-G is just another example of how Salford is fast becoming a centre for green technology.
Greg Barker praised the region: "These are still challenging times for the whole economy but as the recovery really starts to grow Salford is fast becoming a green beacon of the North West by capitalising on a move to a low carbon economy. I'm impressed by the forward-thinking nature of businesses here which are developing technologies of the future."
While touring the region Greg Barker also stopped off at Salford University to launch Energy House, a life size model of an energy efficient home within a laboratory which is being used to research the effectiveness of new technologies in reducing energy use and waste.
