Wind energy shipping firm expands

A specialist shipping firm which supplies vessels to the wind energy industry is to build a new base at Great Yarmouth.

Seajacks is currently based in the east coast town but is moving because business is booming.

Seajacks operates ships which are designed for the installation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines and can also perform maintenance work on oil and gas platforms.

It has two working ships at the moment and a third under construction, which is being built specifically to service the wind farm installation market in the North Sea.

Seajacks is owned by Riverstone, an energy private investment firm founded by ex-Goldman Sachs managers and with former BP boss Lord Browne as one of its managing directors.
