E.ON to transfer 1,400 staff in outsourcing move

E.ON is to outsource part of its in-house IT services to Hewlett-Packard and T-Systems.

The deal will be signed next month will involve the transfer of around 1,400 European E.ON staff to HP and T-Systems.

HP will look after all E.ON's data centres and will be responsible for end-user computing. T-Systems will be responsible for network and telecommunications services.

Edgar Aschenbrenner of E.ON IT said: "We want to streamline our IT and make it more efficient in order to maintain our leading role in the ever-more dynamic energy market."

Reinhard Clemens of T-Systems said the deal was "the first time we have succeeded in winning a large-scale order from the energy industry in Europe".
