IT firms switched off to CRC

A quarter of senior IT professionals surveyed by a software company were unaware of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Document management firm Version One surveyed 86 IT directors and managers across a range of UK public sector and private sector organisations, and 22% admitted that they had not heard of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Another 28% were aware of the scheme and had investigated whether their organisation qualified or not, while 42% stated that they are aware of the CRC Scheme but are unsure whether their organisation qualified. The remaining 8% said that they "don't know" whether they have heard about the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme or not.

Version One managing director Julian Buck said: "It's surprising that almost a quarter of IT professionals are still unaware of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and that so many have failed to investigate whether their organisation qualifies or not. With the registration deadline rapidly approaching, it's vital that organisations act now or they run the risk of being hit by financial penalties."

With just days to go until the registration cut-off on September 30, the Environment Agency is urging all firms yet to file their paperwork to get in touch to mitigate the chance of being hit with a fine come deadline day.
