Wales officially opens low carbon hub to drive innovation

A new hub which brings together businesses from the science, information technology and research sectors has officially been opened in Wales.

The Menai Science Park (M-SParc), located within the Anglesey Enterprise Zone, aims to develop a knowledge-sharing environment and create an economic hub in sectors including energy, environment, ICT and low carbon.

It has been built to the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) standards, which takes into account the environmental, social and economic sustainability performance.

The science park has been supported with £20 million of Welsh Government and European funding.

First Minister Carwyn Jones said: “The science park offers a unique mix of business support, commercial expertise and academic support. I look forward to this successful combination continuing to bring more top companies and well paid jobs to North Wales.”
