Jaguar Land Rover has announced it will only make electric or hybrid cars from 2020.
The news follows its first electric car, I-Pace, unveiled last year.
The carmaker has also engineered the electric version of the classic Jaguar E-type car, known as E-type Zero but it is a concept car and won’t be available for sale.
The carmaker however has not said when it would end production of petrol and diesel vehicles entirely.
Chief Executive Ralf Speth said: “Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice.”
The announcement comes two months after Volvo said all its models will be hybrid or electric.
The UK Government plans to ban the sale of new diesel and petrol cars from 2040.
