France has announced the launch of its first sovereign green bond, amounting a record €7 billion (£6bn).
It is said to be the “largest and longest-dated benchmark green bond ever issued”.
It is part of the nation’s efforts to boost investment in clean energy and support the Paris climate agreement.
The 22-year bonds were sold to banks, insurers, pension funds and other institutional investors at a 1.75% interest rate.
French bank BNP Paribas launched a €500 million (£500m) green bond in November last year.
