British Gas has announced a multi-million investment to improve its customer service.
The Big Six supplier said it will invest £50 million in the next three years, initially creating more than 350 new customer service jobs.
Recruitment will start next month, with vacancies in Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
The news comes as the number of contract holdings in British Gas Services fell by 62,000 to around 7.9 million in the first quarter of this year.
In British Gas Business, the number of accounts fell by 28,000 to 826,000 during the same period.
The new investment will fund training and new systems to boost customer service, with the Big Six supplier aiming to reduce call times, give better information and make it easier to use its website.
Iain Conn, CEO of Centrica, who took over the role in January said: “Customers tell us they want excellent service when they deal with their energy supplier. We’re making a substantial and long-term commitment today, which will help us achieve that goal.”
Centrica also announced British Gas profits are expected to rise as a result of the cold start to the year.
