EDF buys 194MW wind project in Texas

The US renewable arm of French firm EDF has bought a new wind project in Texas.

The Spinning Spur III wind project, located in Oldham Country, is expected to start operation by the end of next year.

It was bought from developer Cielo Wind Power and includes long-term power purchase agreements with two utilities.

It follows the purchase of the remaining 49% the power company didn’t already own of Cielo’s 161MW Spinning Spur II project in April.

EDF said it will have more than 1GW of installed wind power capacity by the end of 2015.
