Brixton co-operative invites solar investors

A new co-operative in Brixton is calling for investors in a solar power station to help fund local projects.

Brixton Energy Solar 1 is offering shares in the community-funded solar panels and hopes to raise around £75,000.

Up to 50kW of solar electric PV panels will be put on the roof of Elmore House, one of the housing blocks on the Loughborough Estate in Brixton which is owned by Lambeth Council.

The group says extra income from the Government's solar FiT subsidy will fund local energy efficiency projects.
